Wheeling Downs opened in 1937 as a greyhound racing track on Wheeling Island. Gaming expanded into video lottery terminals in 1994 and table games in 2007. The property rebranded as Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack in 2008. BetRivers became the retail and mobile sportsbook partner after WV's 2018 legalization. Greyhound racing ended in 2017; the track remains open for harness racing simulcast.
